For students seeking writing support, we offer a complimentary diagnostic assessment. After the initial consultation, the student will complete a timed essay in Google Docs and share it with the consultant. The consultant will evaluate the writing, review notes from the consultation, and develop at least two customized Action Plans outlining recommended next steps.
During a brief follow-up call, we will review these options together and select or refine the plan that best fits your goals. At that point, the student will be matched with the most appropriate tutor.
The assigned tutor will contact you to schedule the first session and will send an invoice, typically through PayPal, Venmo or Zelle . (If none of these are available, alternative arrangements can be discussed with the tutor during the follow-up call.)
Tutoring sessions are conducted online and may take place via phone, Zoom, Google Meet, or FaceTime, depending on preference. Writing students frequently use Google Drive to complete assignments, receive feedback, and engage in collaborative practice during sessions.

How does online tutoring work?
Your tutor will discuss their hourly rate when reviewing the Action Plans referenced above. Rates are commensurate with experience and may vary. During this conversation, you will typically be presented with at least two plan options at different price points to best align with your goals and budget.
Once a plan is selected, the tutor will send an invoice via PayPal, Venmo, or Zelle, unless alternative arrangements have been discussed in advance.
Appointments may vary in length. Your purchase reflects the total number of hours, not the number of individual sessions. For example, writing students often benefit from shorter, more frequent meetings to review work, receive feedback, and continue drafting independently between sessions. In some cases, students may schedule multiple brief sessions in a single day with writing practice in between.
To ensure transparency, all Noah Nation tutors maintain a detailed time log in Google Drive, which may be shared with families upon request. For writing students, this log may include “prep time,” which reflects the time spent reviewing, grading, and providing written feedback outside of live sessions. Google Docs allows families to view comments and timestamps for added clarity. Content-focused sessions do not include prep time.

Noah Nation tutors are flexible and can meet using a variety of platforms, including phone, Zoom, Google Meet, or other agreed-upon video conferencing tools.
For writing instruction, we have found that combining a phone conversation with shared access to Google Drive is particularly effective. This format allows tutors to provide real-time feedback as students draft essays and complete targeted writing exercises.
Tutors typically schedule sessions through Google Calendar, and you will receive a reminder prior to each appointment.​
We ask that you notify your tutor as soon as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. There is no cancellation fee, and you will not be charged provided adequate notice is given.
We understand that schedules can change unexpectedly. Just as families may occasionally need to reschedule, there may be rare instances when a tutor needs to adjust an appointment as well. Open communication ensures that sessions can be rescheduled smoothly and respectfully.
